Toni Payne never cheated on me’ – 9ice Finally Opens up about ex wife
6 years after the Nigerian entertainment scene
was hit by one of the biggest marriage scandals
ever, the truth has finally come to bare.
9ice has finally revealed that his ex-wife Toni
Payne ‘never cheated on him’ and that the song
which led to the whole speculation, ‘Once bitten
twice shy’ was not about her.
In a statement posted on the singer’s social
media accounts, he disclosed that he has never
accused Toni of philandering neither did he tell
anyone anything like it.
‘I have NEVER accused her or told anybody that
she cheated on me because she DID NOT. It did
not happen and it was never an issue. Let me be
very clear. Toni Payne NEVER cheated on me.
Some marriages do not work for different
reasons’, the statement read in part.
Nigerian media was awash with stories of
infidelity on the part of Toni Payne in 2009
following the release of the song. Despite
repeated claims that she wasn’t the one being
referred to and she had infact been present
when the song was being recorded, Toni was
accused of cheating on 9ice with rapper,
Ruggedman named in the scandal.
Toni and 9ice recently made up after the singer
apologized to her and she acknowledged and
accepted in a post she recently penned.
Despite this, Toni was recently bashed on Twitter
for allegedly cheating on 9ice with Ruggedman
when she commented on the cheating scandal
involving Choc City rapper, Ice Prince and his
girlfriend, Maima.
9ice and Toni have a son together, Zion from
their short marriage.

’63 Boko Haram terrorists killed in 5 days’ – Army
The Theater Commander of Operation Lafiya
Dole, Major General Hassan Umoru, at a
media briefing in Maiduguri on Friday,
January 22 said Nigerian troops killed 63
Boko Haram insurgents and intercepted
several suicide bombers within the week.
Represented by his Deputy Commander,
Major General Lucky Irabor, General Umaru
said that the soldiers also seized many AK47
rifles, ammunition, Anti-Aircraft Gun, RPG,
GMPG, IEDs, vehicles and motorcycles among
other items from the insurgents.
He said: “our troops conducted a fighting
patrol at Afe, Kudiye, Souma, Dikwa Mijigeta,
Mida villages of Borno state. During the
operation our troops come in contact with
Boko Haram terrorist at Kudiye and Mijigete
were 370 hostages were rescued and brought
to IDP camp in Dikwa and 3 rifles and 41
motorcycles were destroyed.”
He stated that the troops also cleared some
Boko Haram hideouts in Wala, Tirkopytir and
Durubajuwe in Gwoza local government area,
where they recovered GMPG, locally made
Dane gun and a grinding machine.
In Huyum in Askira/Uba Local Government
Area, according to the Commander, the
terrorists on seeing the Nigerian soldiers, left
their families behind which include five
women and 12 children that are currently
being questioned.
The commander also revealed that the troops
intercepted three suspected suicide bombers
attempting to infiltrate Maiduguri, along
Maiduguri Mafa checkpoint of Borno State.
He said two female suicide bombers
detonated the explosive which killed them
instantly, while the male suicide bomber was
immediately shot down while trying run into
the troop at the checkpoint.
General Hassan Umoru commended the
efforts of the troops and renewed call for the
troops and the public to be more vigilant and
security conscious at all times, especially at
checkpoints, worship centre, markets, motor
parks and schools.
Wizkid has been Stealing My Songs Long ago – Blackface
Veteran dancehall act and a former member of the defunct Afro-pop singing trio, Plantashun Boyz, Ahmedu Augustine, widely known as Blackface, has
called on fellow musician, Wizkid, to “stop stealing”
his songs.
“I never really wanted to talk about it all this while but after people started checking out my new song,
Killa, many felt Blackface sounded like Wizkid, which I didn’t like. Blackface who spoke exclusively
to Saturday Beats earlier in the week, said the young hip-hop artiste had been copying many of his songs for a long time but he decided to keep quiet just to let peace reign.
The Benue State-born raga performer however said
he decided to speak out now because he could no longer sit and watch someone else take the glory for his efforts.
The latest controversy follows the release of a new song by Blackface titled Killa where he was believed to have taken a swipe on Wizkid for allegedly copying many of his songs especially two tracks from his Dancehall Business album released in 2010.
If you check properly, you would
realise that Wizkid’s hit, Ojuelegba,
sounds exactly the same as the track
13 on my dancehall album released as
far back as 2010. You need to listen to
that album to know what I am talking
about. The song is so similar that I
think it shouldn’t be that way.
Well, in Killa, I sang that “they tried to
copy my melody,” and the bloggers got
a hint of the gist and put their reports
out. What I said is the truth and I am
going to get to the root of this matter
because I deserve justice.
The Ojuelegba song has made so much
revenue for Wizkid. I am not bothered
about that but I want the industry to
be in a position whereby people will
understand that some of the artistes
and the songs they are cheering is
someone else’s efforts, especially
fellow artistes that they are doing
everything to bring down. All they are
doing is to bring down Blackface and
to say that he is not relevant in the
industry. Some people are bent on
killing my legacy. I believe there is
definitely a gang-up against me in the
industry and this has been going on
for a long time,” he said.
Asked if he had taken on Wizkid personally on the matter, the dancehall artiste said he did his best in that regard but that the response from the Star Boy act shocked him.
To get justice on this issue, Blackface disclosed to Saturday Beats that he could seek legal redress if Wizkid or others do not refrain from stealing his intellectual properties.
“There was a time Wizkid followed me
on twitter and I told him that I don’t
want him taking my songs and that if
he wants to do any of my rhythm, he
should let me know. I told him that
because I was just being a big brother
to him. I told him that our songs can’t be sounding so similar and that
if he wants anything, he should let me
know.
But after some time, he ‘unfollowed’
me and it was shortly after then that
the Ojuelegba song was released. I don’t have any problem with Wizkid or any other person, all I am saying is
that they shouldn’t be tampering with
my songs because those are my properties.
Wizkid and I do different kinds of
music and he doesn’t have my type of
skill. I don’t have a problem with that.
I am only bothered when somebody
takes my song and tries to turn it
around into theirs without giving me
due credit,” he said.
Efforts to reach Wizkid to react to Blackface’s claims proved abortive as his phone numbers were switched off. His manager, Sunday Are, couldn’t bereached as his line was switched off as well.
Wizkid has been in the news lately for a similar allegation. Hypertek Music artiste, Dammy Krane, also recently accused him of stealing one of his songs. The controversy degenerated into a physical fracas with Wizkid reported to have thrown a glass cup at Krane which injured him during a night out at a club in Lagos. The two are believed to have
since mended fence.

R.Kelly said it all started one day when he fell

I totally respect and have absolute faith

I’m usually not one to call people out,
(especially my colleagues) but at this
point, someone needs to talk to
PRINCESS the ‘comedian’. Madam, what
you do on stage is no longer comedy.
You’re still acting after the audience have
gone. Your attitude, downright rudeness
and absolute ridiculousness on stage is
an embarrassment to female comedians.
As a so called veteran, you of all people
should know that when the joke is no
longer funny, it’s time to exit the stage. if
you know her, please tell her. Madam,
abeg clear road. It’s either you work on
your craft and fix whatever psychological
and emotional issues you have, or leave
the stage. Either way, stop embarrassing

Shocker!!!!!!! Pastor Arrested for Raping 14 -year - old Stepdaughterz
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a
42-year-old cleric, Pastor Chidiebere Ikpa, for
allegedly raping his stepdaughter, Ngozi
(pseudonym), in the Surulere area of the state.
Ikpa, who denied the allegation, told PUNCH
Metro that it was a neighbour, whom he
identified only as Richard, that defiled the 14-
year-old girl, but he decided not to report the
matter to the police because he (Ikpa) had a
forgiving character.
However, Ngozi, a Senior Secondary class 2
pupil, who eventually reported the incident to
the police last Friday, January 15, insisted that
she was raped by the pastor on several
occasions.
She added that whenever she told her mother
about it, she usually shouted her down, and
refused to
take any action on the matter.
Ikpa, who hails from the Bende Local
Government Area of Abia State, was arrested by
policemen from the Isokoko division, while Ngozi
was taken for medical examination at the
Mirabel Centre, Ikeja.
The test reportedly confirmed that the girl’s
private parts had been “tampered with.”
A police source told PUNCH Metro that Ngozi
reported that Ikpa had allegedly been sleeping
with her since she was 10 years old and was the
one who deflowered her.
She said:
“The victim claimed that the suspect deflowered
her when she was 10 years. He had allegedly
been sexually molesting the girl since that time.
“The victim’s mother is culpable because she
knew about the abuses. The girl said it was when
her mother failed to take concrete steps that she
came to the police.”
Speaking with PUNCH Metro, the pastor said he
flogged the girl last Thursday and she
disappeared from the house, not knowing she
came to the police to lie against him. He said:
“The girl started living with me when she was 12
or thereabout. That was around 2012. It is not
true that I raped her. I flogged her on Thursday
for being rude and she did not return home
after school. We did not see her until Friday.
She had been with the police.
“The girl has a boyfriend; his name is Richard.
He is the manager of a hotel on Rasak Balogun
Street. If the medical result shows someone has
been sleeping with Ngozi, then it is Richard, not
me.
It is a mystery to me that the girl is claiming
that I slept with her. When we caught Richard
and confronted him sometime last year, he
started begging. The mistake I made was that I
did not report to the police.
My wife got furious and said we must report the
matter to the police, but the man started
begging, sending text messages to me. I forgave
him. I am a pastor.
I was working under a church, but since I moved
to this area, I have not pastored any church.”
The victim, Ngozi, told Punch that Ikpa was lying
and he had slept with her on several occasions.
She said:
“The first time that he would rape me was about
five years ago. My mother sent me to give food
to him in his own house. I was then staying in
my father’s house. That was when he took
advantage of me and raped me.
The man he mentioned is not my boyfriend.
Richard was the man I reported to when I told
my mother about the rape and she did not
believe me. Richard advised me to leave
everything to God.
Sometimes, when everyone was sleeping, he
would come to the room where I was with my
other sisters and he would rape me. I would be
hitting my sisters trying to wake them, but they
did not wake at such times.”
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer,
SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the pastor’s
arrest.
She said, “The pastor’s arrest is confirmed. He
was transferred from FESTAC to the Isokoko
division for prosecution.”
NHS Psychiatrist in the UK sacked for recommending TB Joshua's Emmanuel TV to patient
A NHS psychiatrist in the UK Dr Julius Awakame, 50, has been
sacked after he advised a patient to get help from TB Joshua's 24-
hour church TV channel, Emmanuel TV because she might be
possessed by demonic 'special forces'.
According to UK Daily Mail, Dr Julius recorded medical notes
diagnosing the woman as having a history of 'satanic ritual abuse'
and said her issues could not be addressed by regular treatment.
So instead he told her to watch Emmanuel TV, adding: 'neither
psychiatry not psychology would be able to help because there are
special forces at play.'
The woman - known as Patient A - claimed Awakame also told her to
get 'nice holy water' before 'switching off' during the consultation
at a health centre in Harwich, Essex.
When community psychiatric nurse Martin Rowe later quizzed
Awkame whether she she was possessed, the medic replied: 'She
may well be' and claimed she had been thrown out of her local
church due to her condition.
The doctor's employment with the North Essex Partnership
Foundation Trust was terminated the following month.
Today Awkame - who has since returned to his native Ghana - faced
being struck off after he was found guilty in his absence at a
medical tribunal of a number of misconduct charges.
The consultation took place on January 23 2014 when Awakame was
treating the vulnerable woman as an outpatient.
The hearing, in Manchester, was told he was made aware she had a
'Dissociative Identity' - a personality disorder - and a 'history of
previous satanic ritual abuse' before making a record of it in his
notes.
But Awakame, formerly of Ipswich, then told Patient A she had been
'initiated through satanic ritual' and wrote down a website address
for her to access.
He told her the TV station was 'specifically targeted for people who
experienced similar situations.'
And he said her problems 'could only be addressed by the church'
before he wrote down the name and suggested she write a book
about her experiences.
He also told Patient A he had watched the TV station and said
there were 'many people who had similar problems' to her.
The patient further claimed Awakame told her to ask the church to
send her some 'nice holy water' to help with her problems. She
later spoke to Mr Rowe about the encounter and the nurse quizzed
Awakame.
When the nurse told Awakame that Patient A thought she might be
'possessed' he replied: 'She may well be.'
The doctor also said he 'studied' the TV station 'for hours' and said
the woman's church had recognised she was possessed and had
thrown her out.
Speaking of her emotional state following the meeting, Patient A
said: 'I had pretty much switched off after hearing Dr Awakame tell
me that no psychiatrist or psychologist could help me as throughout
my childhood my parents had told me that no one would believe
me and no one would help me'.
Awakame was reported to a consultant psychiatrist at the Trust by
Mr Rowe the day after the consultation.
Following an investigation he was subsequently sacked and referred
to the General Medical Council.
Awakame, who worked in various hospitals in the NHS from 1997 to
2014, will be disciplined next month by the Medical Practitioners
Tribunal Service.
He is currently working as a lecturer in 'health informatics' in his
home country where he graduated in medicine in 1993
Javier Mascherano sentenced to jail over tax evasion charges
Javier Mascherano has been sentenced to a year in
prison but is unlikely to ever serve time in jail, after
a verdict was reached in his tax evasion case. The
Argentine has been fined €815,000 and handed a
year's sentence for two counts of fiscal crimes
committed in 2011 and 2012.
Mascherano has previously admitted to the
offences, repaid the money owed and paid a hefty
fine as recompense.
After such compliance with the investigation, the
court is expected to grant the wish of Mascherano
and his lawyer, David Aineto, in suspending the
custodial sentence in exchange for a further fine.
The Barcelona star said in a statement released on

Spanish tax authorities, with a firm verdict

accused of corruption.
The ongoing investigation into the alleged
diversion of over $2.1 billion meant for arms
purchase by the last administration, has seen

some of those currently put on trial by the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

accord. If the corruption fight needs to get
there (making Mr. Jonathan face justice), it

I Bought Seven Certificates For N 100 ,000 ” - Fake LUTH Doctor Confesses (Photo)
A 43-year-old man, Opeyemi Adesina, who
allegedly paraded himself as a consultant
gynaecologist with the Lagos University Teaching
Hospital, Idi-Araba, says he paid N100,000 to
buy the seven forged certificates he used.
Adesina, who hails from Ekiti State, was arrested
on Tuesday by the Alakara Police Division on
Alowolodu Street in the Alapere, Ketu area of
Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro gathered that Adesina was
arrested after his landlord, identified only as
Akorede, wrote a “save-my-soul” petition to the
management of LUTH some weeks ago alleging
that Adesina brought home female patients to
treat in his house and did abortions for them,
among other unwholesome practices which could
implicate him (the landlord).
Akorede had further explained in the letter that
when he confronted Adesina, the doctor
allegedly claimed to be a consultant
gynaecologist with LUTH, adding that he
(Adesina) brought the referral cases from the
hospital to his house so that he could have time
to attend to them.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the LUTH authorities,
who could not find such name in the record of
their consultants, forwarded the letter to the
police, and Adesina was thereafter arrested.
It was gathered that the police also recovered
the forged certificates.
Our correspondent observed that the certificates
included a fake MBBS certificate of the University
of Ibadan, and a fake membership certificate of
the Nigerian Medical Association.
Speaking with PUNCH Metro, Adesina said he
paid N100,000 to one Kolawole in Ibadan, Oyo
State, to get the certificates, adding that he had
used them for only three years. He said, “I bought the certificates from Kolawole
in Ibadan. That was three years ago. I bought
them from him for N100,000. He printed the
seven certificates.
“I do not know where he stays. We did not meet
in any specific location. We usually met at fast
food joints or any agreed place. For instance, it
was at Agodi Gate area that I gave him the
money and got the certificates. I decided to use
another name on the certificates.
“I forged them because I dropped out of the
university. I was actually studying Medicine.
However, I dropped out in the 500 level due to
financial reasons.
“I married my wife about five years ago. She
thought I was a certified doctor. She actually
came to me for treatment in the Ketu area and
that was how we met. We have a child.”
Adesina, who denied his landlord’s allegation,
said he only operated a laboratory where he
attended to his patients.
He said, “Three years ago, I decided to get the
certificates just to cover up for the failure to
finish my university education.
“It is not true that I brought women to treat at
home. The truth of the matter is that I have a
laboratory and the women came there. I usually
did tests for them and by the time the test
results were out, I would ask them to visit a
hospital for treatment.”
The suspect’s wife, Olawumi, pleaded that her
husband should be released as he had realised
his mistake, and would never venture into such
again.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer,
SP Dolapo Badmos, said the suspect would be
charged to court as soon as investigation was
over.

A baby girl, dressed and abandoned by her mother
in a biscuit carton near Eco Bank, along Ikot Ekpene
Road, Uyo, died after hours of battling for survival.
The baby, who was said to have been abandoned by
her mother at about 11:30pm on Friday, died
around 11:58am on Saturday after many hours of
crying for help.
A resident of the area, Mr. Okon Isaac, told a
Punch correspondent that the baby became pale
after a long period of crying for her mum’s
comfort before passing out.
Isaac said he wanted to check if Total Filling Station
along Ikot Ekpene Road, Uyo had begun to sell fuel
when he heard a baby cry near the refuse bin,
dressed neatly and dumped in the biscuit carton.
According to him, he was perplexed and had to
suspend buying fuel and kept watch over the baby
since 5:47am thinking that the mother might
change her mind and come back for the baby.
He stated that the baby’s cry from the carton drew
the attention of a large number of people.
Isaac added that people were scared to touch the
baby to avoid being accused by the police of trying
to steal or kidnap the baby.
“I have been here since 5:47am. I wanted to buy
fuel from Total, which only sells the product when
available between the hours of 4 and 6:20am. After
this time, they stop selling pretending not to have
the product.
“As I was passing, I heard the cry of the baby. I
began to wonder where the baby was crying from.
But when I got near the refuse bin, just off the
road, I saw a baby girl neatly dressed and dumped
in a biscuit carton.
“I could not go to Total in search of fuel again. I
stayed behind to observe if the mother of the baby
might change her mind and come back for the
baby. And before long, people started to troop in
as they heard the cry of the baby.
“But as we live in a period of child theft and selling
of children for money, people were scared to touch
the baby. They all stood helpless, should anyone
risk lifting the baby, and the police happen to be
around, the individual can be accused of child
theft, or whatever,” he said.
The Punch correspondent called the police
emergency number to inform them of the
abandoned baby, but the police said they were
aware of the situation and had contacted the
Ministry of Environment for necessary action.
It was observed that till the baby died, neither the
police nor officials of the Ministry of Environment
were present at the scene.

Nigerians to Now Pay N50 to FG Each Time They Receive Deposits in their Bank Accounts
The Federal Government through the Central
Bank of Nigeria, has imposed stamp duty of N50
on bank customers for money received into
their accounts.
Consequently, bank customers will henceforth
pay N50 stamp duty for money received into
their accounts via electronic transfer, cash and
cheques.
This order was contained in a circular to all
Deposit Money Banks and Other Financial
institutions titled, Collection and Remittance of
statutory charges on receipts of Nigeria Postal
Service under the Stamp Duties Act”.
The CBN stated:
“As part of efforts to boost its revenue base,
the federal government of Nigeria is exploring
revenue opportunities in the non-oil sectors
especially taxes and rates. It is in recognition of
this fact that banks and other financial
institutions are enjoined to support
government’s revenue drive through compliance
with the provisions of the Stamp Duties Act, LFN
2004 as reinforced by the court judgement in
Suit No FHC/L/CS/1710/2013.
In this regard, the CBN pursuant to the
provisions of its enabling laws, hereby issues
this circular to all DMBs other financial
institutions:
With immediate effect, all DMBs and other
financial institutions shall commence the
charging of N50 per eligible transaction in
accordance with the provisions of the Stamp
Duties Act and Federal Government Financial
Regulations 2009, that is, all receipts given by
any bank or other financial institution in
acknowledgment of services rendered in respect
of electronic transfer and teller deposits from
N1, 000 and above;
“For all avoidance of doubt the following
receipts are however exempted from imposition
of stamp duties:
payments of deposits or transfer by self to
self whether inter or intra bank; and any form
of withdrawals/transfers from saving accounts;
It should be noted that these charges are
only payable by receiving accounts;
“Each DMB shall open an account designated
as NIPOST Stamp Duties Account into which all
charges collected shall be paid. The balances in
such accounts shall be transferred monthly by
the DMBs to CBN NIPOST Stamp Duty Collection
Account No. 3000047517;
“Other financial institutions shall remit their
Stamp Duty collections to any DMB of their

Adewole added that intensive efforts are being
made to stop the spread of the deadly virus. He
announced that six of the most affected states will
have Lassa fever diagnostic centres. They are Niger,
Nasarawa, Taraba, Plateau, Bauchi and Ondo states.
This is in addition to the six existing Lassa fever
treatment centres namely Irrua, Edo; University of
Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Maiduguri, Borno;
Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Kano, Lagos
University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), University
College Hospital Ibadan, and the National Centre for
Disease Control, Asokoro, Abuja.

Police force tagged ‘Everyone is a police’ and
looked almost unrecognisable in a police
uniform with his signature curls covered under a
beret.
The campaign addresses the need for Nigerians
to work collectively to ensure safety in the
country and reiterates that the Nigerian Police is
not the enemy.
However, fans of the singer took to his page to
criticize the campaign and call him out for being
ignorant.
They also stated that the police will always be

Gunmen Abduct Christ Embassy Pastor, Others
Gunmen have abducted 12 persons, including a
pastor of Christ Embassy, Lawrence Ohimare, in
Bayelsa State.
The abductors were said to have hijacked a
passenger speedboat carrying Ohimare, the
pastor of the church’s branch in the Brass area
of the state, and 11 others, heading for Yenagoa,
the state capital.
The commercial speedboat was said to have
taken off from Twon-Brass, en-route the Nembe
waterways to Yenagoa about 7am on Monday.
It was learnt that the speedboat was waylaid by
the gunmen immediately after the Obama Rice
Farm in Nembe and diverted to the Okoroma
creek.
A member of the church, Pastor Eriye Tumeni,
said information available to him was that the
boat took off around 7am from the Twon-Brass
jetty, but was hijacked by the gunmen. He said the 12 passengers on board the
speedboat were taken to an unknown destination
through Okoroma creeks.
He added that contact with Ohimare had since
been cut off since the incident.
He said, “As I am speaking with you, we have yet
to hear from the abductors or from the pastor
(Ohimare). The wife of the pastor is completely
devastated and had to be attended to.
“Since we received the news, I have
called the Divisional Police Officer
in Nembe, the Bayelsa
Commissioner of Police, the JTF
Commander and all other relevant
security agencies in the state to
help us in securing the release of
the pastor and the other 11
passengers on board.”
When contacted, the Police Public Relations
Officer, Bayelsa State Command, Asinim Bustwat,
confirmed the abduction.
Butswat, however, said the command had not
been fully briefed on the incident.
