Alleged arms fraud involvement: ‘I shall pursue this injustice to a logical end’ – Obanikoro

Former minister of state for Defense, Musiliu Obanikoro, has challenged the recent news report that his sons, Babajide and Gbolahan Obainikoro, are involved in the infamous Dasukigate scandal. Obanikoro, who is currently in the United
States where he is said to be schooling, spoke through his Media Aide, Jonathan Eze, who asked online news platform, Sahara Reporters, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to honestly publish names of the signatories to the Silva McNamara Limited account or stop deceiving the public with deceitful information.
The former Minister said he’s shocked by the political witch-hunting on the pages of
newspapers. He also reminded the agencies involved that the court is meant for adjudication of cases and not for stirring public sentiments.
Alleging that Sahara Reporters had a personal vendetta against him, owing to the suit he filed against the news agency for defamation, Obanikoro said that was the reason why the online news platform was demonizing him through the propagation of falsehood.
He also urged the EFCC to be fair in its actions and avoid speculations that might
infringe on his sons’ rights.
“Associating my sons to the Sylva McNamara account that allegedly received funds from the office of the embattled National security Adviser is highly preposterous and unthinkable.”
“I am particularly amazed by the fact that trials and investigations are being done using the media unconventionally just to satisfy the cravings of political entities who are desperate to rub my hard earned reputation in the mud.”
“Since the invisible Sahara Reporters whom I have legal cases against are at the forefront of misleading the public and defaming my person, perhaps rationalizing that I would withdraw pending suits against it, I am using
this medium to challenge it and the EFCC to publish in good conscience the signatories and the names of the directors of the said company and to restate that I shall conclusively pursue this injustice and infringements to a logical end.”
