Shocking: Woman Gives Birth To Twins With Different Father

A woman was reported to have given birth to twins with different fathers after having sex with two men in the same ovulation period.
The mother and her husband recently took their two-year-old children for DNA tests because of striking differences in their appearances.
The Vietnamese couple were shocked to hear that only one of their twins was biologically related to the father, according to local
reports.
However, both were the offspring of the
mother – with tests ruling out the possibility
of a hospital mix-up shortly after their
births.
Le Dinh Luong, president of the Genetic

NNPC Embarks On Nationwide Strike

According to the report, Oil workers have
shut down the operations of the Nigerian
National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)
nationwide following Tuesday’s unbundling
of the corporation. Members of staff and
management of the corporation arrived
their various offices on Wednesday
morning to discover that they could not
gain entrance following the total strike.
The immediate impact of the strike will be
nationwide fuel scarcity as products will
not be lifted by NUPENG. It is not
expected to affect the crude oil export yet
except the Department of Petroleum
Resources (DPR) joins in solidarity. Ibe
Kachikwu, minister of state for petroleum
resources who doubles as the NNPC group
managing director, had announced the
creation of seven independent units on
Tuesday, namely downstream, gas and
power, refineries, ventures, corporate
planning and services, and finance and
accounts.

committee (GEC) of the the Nigeria Union
of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers
(NUPENG) and the National Union of
Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers
(NUPENG) convened an emergency meeting at 10pm on Tuesday to discuss the

At the end of the meeting, GEC sent this
message to all members: “The GEC of
NUPENG & PENGASSAN at its meeting of
8th March 2016, which started at
10:00pm has extensively discussed the
pronouncement of the GMD on NNPC
UNBUNDLING. We observed that the GMD/
HMSP totally disregarded due process and failed to engage STAKEHOLDERS. Hence, from midnight today, ALL NNPC
LOCATIONS will be SHUT DOWN
COMPLETELY until further notice.
Further directives will be communicated
accordingly.” When TheCable visited the
NNPC headquarters on Wednesday,
hundreds of the corporation’s staff littered
the road causing gridlock on Herbert
Macaulay way. Unionists in red were at the
scene barricading the entrance to the
NNPC building. Also, security agents were
on hand to forestall break down of order.
A staff member of the NNPC, who spoke
on condition of anonymity, told this
newspaper that he was at the corporation’s
building as of 7:30am on Wednesday but
met “it barricaded by members of
PENGASSAN.”
TheCable tried to speak with one of the
leaders of the union, but he said: “We are
not here for journalists. This is not for the
press.” Kachikwu had said the distribution of subsidiary companies of the corporation would further be restructuredinto direct management of the divisions.
Last week, Kachikwu announced that the
government was planning to unbundle the
corporation into 30 profitable companies.

Worshipper sneaks out during vigil, commits suicide behind church building

The Church of the King of Kings on Taju Bello Street, in the Iju-Ishaga area of Lagos, has been thrown into confusion after a member, identified simply as Taofiq, committed suicide at the back of the church building.
Taofiq, a mechanic, was said to have attended a vigil in the church on Friday, but sneaked out while the prayer was going on. He subsequently went to a valley at the back of the church, where he hanged himself on a tree.
PUNCH Metro learnt that his body was met dangling while his prayer garment was found folded at the scene of the incident around 5am on Saturday.
The police from the Iju division were said to have gone to the area and took the corpse after the church’s assistant pastor reported the case.
Taofiq, who converted to Christianity
sometime last year, started attending the
church –a parish of Cherubim and Seraphim–
a few months ago.
The church members declined to comment on the incident when PUNCH Metro visited the community on Tuesday.
The members prevented their correspondent from entering the church’s premises when he demanded to speak with their pastor.
One of them, a woman, who felt enraged by the request, said:
“We cannot say anything about what
happened. We are not his family
members and he (the deceased) was
not a church member. Go and meet
his people. I don’t want to hear
anything; leave our church now!”
Most residents approached by this
correspondent also declined comments on the incident.
However, an elderly man, who did not to give his name, said the deceased was a member of
the church, adding that he was awoken on the day by the commotion caused by the
incident.
He said:
“He (Taofiq) had attended a vigil with
members of the church on Friday to
Saturday. It was around 5am that he
was found dangling on a tree at the
back of the church. I don’t know why
he killed himself. But he must have
been psychologically disturbed. I saw
the garment he wore to the church at
the place he committed suicide.”
As the man narrated what he witnessed to Punch, a member of the church stormed his compound and told him to stop.
Another resident, who identified himself as Kareem Ibrahim, said Taofiq’s behaviour became strange about a year ago when he quit his mechanic work.
He said:
“I just opened shop that day when a
friend came to tell me that someone
had died at the back of the church. On
getting there, it turned out to be
Taofik. He was living around here
before, but I don’t know where he
relocated to. When he converted to
Christianity last year, he changed his
name to Segun.
“He was a mechanic and was living a
normal life until last year when we
observed that his behaviour was
changed. I learnt he was defrauded of
money, but I don’t know the amount.
He was a bachelor.”
The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, SP Dolapo Badmos, said investigation was ongoing to ascertain the cause of the incident.
She said:
“The Assistant Pastor of the King of
Kings Church, Mr. Odunike Abiodun,
reported to the police that one Taofik
committed suicide near the church,
where he came for a vigil. Detectives
visited the scene of the crime and
investigation is ongoing to unravel the
cause of the death. His corpse has
been deposited in a morgue for
autopsy.”

we won’t accept $1m to impeach ‘Fayose his our benefactor ’ – Ekiti lawmakers

Members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly have exposed ‘a plot to bribe legislators with as much as $1 million each’ to be part of the efforts to impeach state governor, Ayodele Fayose.
The lawmakers stated that they were ready to spend the rest of their tenure in the Department of State Services cell instead of collaborating with people who have been defeated in 5 consecutive elections to cause political instability in the state.
Furthermore, while addressing the press on Tuesday, March 8, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Gboyega Aribisogan, in the company of 12 other lawmakers, revealed that the lawmakers would not allow a repeat of the 2006 experience in this dispensation.
He noted that then, members of the Ekiti state Assembly were kept in Economic and Financial Crimes Commission detention and forced to append their signature to the impeachment of Governor Fayose right on the table of the commission’s chairman.
“We are here to inform the public through
your various medium the open involvement of men of the Department of State Service (DSS) from Abuja in the plot to unseat our State Governor, Mr Peter Ayodele Fayose.”
“The last Friday invasion of the State House of Assembly by armed men of the DSS in which four of our members were abducted, has been established to be a prelude to the clandestine plot to coerce members of the House of Assembly to impeach Governor Fayose.”
“As at today, even Hon Afolabi Akanni that we were able to confirm was with the DSS in Abuja is being held incommunicado. No one has been given access to him, not even his lawyers and doctors. We do not have any information as to the whereabouts of the other three.”
“We are aware of the plot to arrest no fewer than 18 of our members with a view to forcing them to sign impeachment notice against Governor Fayose. The plot is being hatched by the same elements who masterminded the impeachment of Governor Fayose in 2006, which was eventually declared illegal by the Supreme Court and they are boasting of support of the DSS and the Presidency.”
“In the last four days, eight of our member
had been visited by some men, who claimed to be officials of the DSS. Our members were told that their names were among those to be arrested and they must “cooperate” if they do not want their bank accounts frozen and be kept in DSS detention indefinitely.”
“They went on to promise that proper
arrangement had been made for the
impeachment of the governor, with a sum of $1 million already earmarked for sharing among “cooperating” assembly members. Also, our members were told that they will be provided with soft-landing in the APC if they cooperate. One of them revealed that they promised to make him the Speaker, and eventually the Acting Governor.”
“We however wish to tell the plotters of evil against the government of Ayodele Fayose and by extension the people of Ekiti State that we, members of the State House of Assembly are not interested in their evil plot.
We are prepared to spend the rest of our tenure in DSS cell, instead of joining people that we roundly defeated in five straight elections to cause another political instability in Ekiti State.”
“These agents of destabilisation should be reminded of the 2006 episode, which was responsible for Ekiti State having six
governors in three years. Most importantly, Governor Fayose is our benefactor. He is our leader on whose political strength we are members of the State House of Assembly. We can even be called his stooges, we don’t mind.

FG Employs James Ocholi’s Son, Gives Others Scholarship

As part of efforts to support the children left behind by the late Minister of State for
Labour, Mr James Ocholi (SAN), the Federal Government has announced automatic employment at the Federal Ministry of Justice for Aaron, his eldest son.
The Attorney-General of the Federation,
Abubakar Malami, revealed this to the Ocholi family when he paid a visit to his Kado Estate residence at about 3:00pm on Tuesday, to convey his and President Muhammadu Buhari’s condolence message.
He also disclosed that Aaron’s other siblings would enjoy scholarships for their educational pursuits, courtesy of the Federal Government who has pledged to cushion the effect of the loss of their parents.
The Minister added that the Senior Advocate was a very critical part of the change effort of the Federal Government.
He said that President Buhari personally
mandated him to inform the family of the
late Minister that his administration would do
all within its power to ensure he is not
missed.
Mr Malami consoled them that death was a necessary end that was bound to happen, adding that God in his infinite mercy had a reason for allowing them to depart the way they did.
“I am here to convey Mr President’s
condolence message and he has asked
me to personally inform you that you
have been given automatic
employment in the Federal Ministry of
Justice. The employment letter is in
process and you can resume work after
now”, he told Ocholi’s eldest son.
“Your father was a very hardworking
and conscientious member of the
Federal Executive Council who was very
passionate and worked hard for the
realisation of the change agenda of this
government.
“Indeed, it is a sad moment for all of
us and the vacuum which his death has
created is not only for the family, but
the leadership as well. He was a great
pillar in the struggle which brought
this administration to power. He
played a major role in the merger
process,” the AGF said.
The Minister of State for Labour and
Employment died in a road accident along the Kaduna-Abuja highway on Sunday, March 6, along with his wife and son.
The deceased and his family were returning from a private visit in Kaduna.

South African gay singer dies of anal cancer

36 year old HIV positive South African singer, Koyo Bala, lost his two year battle with anal cancer yesterday March 7th. Bala was part of a pop gay trio known as 3Sum who were known in the South African entertainment
industry as activists for gay rights.
Bala returned to Cape Town from
Johannesburg on Sunday March 6th,
complained of having serious pains. He was taken to the Groote Schuur hospital that same day but died the following morning.
In 2011‚ Bala disclosed that he was HIV-
positive. In 2014 he was diagnosed with anal cancer.
His last tweet about his illness was in February reads: "I pray 2 God everyday 2 help me pass this cancer #itshard #pains

Swiss govt to return fresh $321m Abacha loot

A delegation of the Swiss government led by
its Minister of Foreign Affairs, Didier
Burkhalter, will arrive Nigeria today March
8th to discuss with Vice President Yemi
Osinbajo on the repatriation of another $321
million Abacha loot. Confirming this to
Premium Times, an official of the Swiss
Embassy in Nigeria, Pascal Holliger, said
“Yes, our foreign Minister is on his way
to Nigeria on Tuesday. He is coming on
a working visit to Nigeria. During the
visit, he would open the Consular
General’s office in Lagos and meet with
the Vice President of Nigeria and the
Minister of Foreign Affairs to discuss
the issue of the repatriation of the
second tranche of the Abacha loot”.

Nigeria’s economic crisis is being exaggerated– Dangote

Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, says
Nigeria's economic reality is being
exaggerated and is not as bad as it is being
portrayed. Dangote said this while speaking at
the Economist Forum in Lagos, yesterday
March 7th. Dangote said while some
businesses faced serious challenges, others
did not.
“It all depends on the business. I think
people are underrating the economy of
Nigeria. They just go and look at
foreign exchange because oil has gone
down and believe that everything has
gone out of the window. That is not
correct”.
He said despite what is being described as an
economic crisis in Nigeria, his company,
Dangote Cement, recorded 47 per cent growth
in January and February.
"We have seen growth in our sugar
business of about 20 per cent. If your
business model is to import 100 per
cent of your component and just be an
assembly plant, then definitely you will
face challenges because the influx of
foreign exchange is not like what it
used to be a year and half ago when we
used to receive about 3.2 billion
dollars on monthly basis and our
outflow was around two billion dollars.
Today, we are receiving just about a
billion dollars. In our cement sector,
we had that vision and we said let us
properly industrialise. By this, we mean
that our raw materials are almost 90
percent locally sourced. So we only
need foreign exchange to buy spare
parts, pay some of our expatriate staff
salaries in dollars and a get a little bit
of gipson which is not readily available
here.”he said
Dangote added that the only option left for
businesses in Nigeria was to export.
“We now have capacity to export
cement worth about 500 million dollars
on an annual basis. With that, it means
that we are self-sufficient. If you look
at most of our projects, they are all
very transformational projects because
we saw this coming. In the last ten
years, we said we want to do things in
a manner that by 2018, we don’t have
to go to the Central Bank of Nigeria to
ask for foreign exchange. We want to
be people who will sale forex to the
market.”he said

Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, says
Nigeria's economic reality is being
exaggerated and is not as bad as it is being
portrayed. Dangote said this while speaking at
the Economist Forum in Lagos, yesterday
March 7th. Dangote said while some
businesses faced serious challenges, others
did not.
“It all depends on the business. I think
people are underrating the economy of
Nigeria. They just go and look at
foreign exchange because oil has gone
down and believe that everything has
gone out of the window. That is not
correct”.
He said despite what is being described as an
economic crisis in Nigeria, his company,
Dangote Cement, recorded 47 per cent growth
in January and February.
"We have seen growth in our sugar
business of about 20 per cent. If your
business model is to import 100 per
cent of your component and just be an
assembly plant, then definitely you will
face challenges because the influx of
foreign exchange is not like what it
used to be a year and half ago when we
used to receive about 3.2 billion
dollars on monthly basis and our
outflow was around two billion dollars.
Today, we are receiving just about a
billion dollars. In our cement sector,
we had that vision and we said let us
properly industrialise. By this, we mean
that our raw materials are almost 90
percent locally sourced. So we only
need foreign exchange to buy spare
parts, pay some of our expatriate staff
salaries in dollars and a get a little bit
of gipson which is not readily available
here.”he said
Dangote added that the only option left for
businesses in Nigeria was to export.
“We now have capacity to export
cement worth about 500 million dollars
on an annual basis. With that, it means
that we are self-sufficient. If you look
at most of our projects, they are all
very transformational projects because
we saw this coming. In the last ten
years, we said we want to do things in
a manner that by 2018, we don’t have
to go to the Central Bank of Nigeria to
ask for foreign exchange. We want to
be people who will sale forex to the
market.”he said

OMG!! 4 dead as 5 -story building collapse in Lekki

Another tragedy has occurred in the
highbrow Lekki area of Lagos State as a
five-storey building under construction
has collapsed, leaving four people dead
and many still trapped inside.
Eyewitnesses say the building which was
nearing completion, collapsed after the
heavy downpour in the city this morning
at about 8am. The dead and the trapped
are said to be construction workers who
had resumed early for the day’s job.
The collapsed building is said to be at the
Chisco bus stop opposite Oando Gas
station along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
At the time of this report, officials of the
National Emergency Management Agency
(NEMA), and the Lagos State Fire Service
are on ground helping in the rescue
operation. The Director of the State Fire
Service, Rasaq Fadipe, has confirmed the
incident though he is silent on the figure
of the death, just as a number of injured
people have been rescued so far.

APC Man Burnt Alive As Thugs Claim Five Lives In Rivers .

A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ofinijite Amachree, was reportedly
burnt alive in Buguma, Asari-Toru Local
Government of Rivers State yesterday.
Amachree was beaten up and burnt. Five
were clubbed to death between Saturday
and Sunday.
The murder of Amachree took place barely 48 hours after APC’s Ward 4 chairman in Omoku, headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/ Ndoni, Franklin Obi, was beheaded at his home by masked gunmen at 9 pm. His wife and 18-year-old son, Bestman, were also killed, The Nation reports..
Four APC members were killed in Obibi,
Etche Local Government, while Gabriel
Cookey was clubbed to death in Opobo,
headquarters of Opobo/Nkoro.

“We don’t really know what caused the fight; but what we know is that it is a clash between the APC and PDP.
There were gunshots; so, we had to take cover in our house. One guy, popularly known as Kpom Kpom, who I think is an APC member was killed and burnt. As I speak with you, there is tension in Buguma”

Aaron Ocholi, the first son of the Minister
of state for Labor and Employment, James Ocholi, would have also lost his life in the
fatal accident that claimed the lives of his
father, mother, brother and two others

Sunday March 6th.
While receiving a body of the Senior
Advocates of Nigeria at their residence
yesterday March 7th, Aaron who was
called to bar in October 2015, said a
fracture he sustained in his hand while
playing football on Saturday March 5th,
prevented him from following his parents
and brother to the church thanksgiving in
Kaduna.
It was while they were returning from the
thanksgiving that they had the accident
and lost their lives.

It’s a normal 21st Century phenomenon
for women to wear bras to help support

But a new study has revealed that bras

A sports science researcher, Jean-Denis
Rouillon worked with over 330 women
aged between 18 and 35 for 15 years to
come to the conclusion that women should ditch their bras and go free.
The subjects, who had varying breast sizes, were monitored for a decade and a half.
During his study, Rouillon found that
woman who went braless developed more
muscle tissue and tone, meaning their
bodies gave them natural support where it was needed.

“Medically, physiologically, anatomically breasts gain no benefit from being denied
gravity. On the contrary, they get saggier with a bra.”
Dr Stafford Broumand, a plastic surgeon at Mount Sinai Medical Centre added to

“On the surface, this claim seems plausible. “For younger women, not wearing a bra will lead to increased collagen production and elasticity,

My fiance and I are based in the UK and
have been dating for 2 years. We are
getting married in June this year and all
plans are set. I however got the greatest
shock of my life on Feb 14th.
He had came to my flat a day before and a

and pulling my hair. He took out a knife
and threatened to kill me if I didn’t
confess that I’m sleeping with the guy who
called me on Saturday night. Some of my
braids came off, my dress was completely
torn and I had bruises all over. He ceased
my phone so I couldn’t call in the police
and held me hostage for close to an hour.
I cried the whole time, pleading with him
to free me. Just around that time, my
mum started calling me and he picked the
call and told her we just had a small fight
and I was crying. My mum asked to speak
to me and I told her everything that
happened.
Surprisingly, my mum told me these things
happen in marriages and I shouldn’t let
other people know our problems. My mum
said lots of women go through this once in
a while and I should stop crying and not
do anything that will bring about the
cancellation of our wedding.
He also started crying too, pleading that
he was very sorry and didn’t know what
came over him. I then left and came to my
place. He’s been calling and texting me
since then but I’ve refused to respond. I
am in total shock! I am also disappointed
at my mum’s reaction to all of this.
Honestly, I’m scared for my life because if
I go ahead to marry him, it might continue
and I have read about men killing their
spouses in marriages.
He is not a violet person usually though
and very remorseful about how he treated
me. What should I do? Should I cancel the
wedding or give him another chance. I

The Deputy governor of Yobe state,
Abubakar Ali, was involved in a car
accident in Daka-Tsalle town along the
Kaduna- Kano expressway on Monday,
March 7th.
Eyewitnesses report that the SUV of the
deputy governor had a head-on collision
with a Toyota Avensis. Although the deputy
governor was unharmed, the Toyota
Avensis somersaulted and was badly
damaged.
The deputy governor’s convoy later

Time to re-write the APC Manifesto - Dele Momodu

Fellow Nigerians, something
melodramatic occurred some days ago
in Doha, Qatar, United Arab Emirates,
where President Muhammadu Buhari
dropped a bombshell inadvertently.
And what was the matter? The
President in his usual candour and
uncommon honesty announced that
one of his major campaign promises
was no longer feasible and practicable;
the plan to pay unemployed youths a
paltry sum of N5,000 monthly stipend
was thus summarily jettisoned.
Or so it seemed. To be accurate, what Mr
President said with a wry smile was that this was a campaign promise of his Party and was one of the cardinal points of his Party’s Manifesto but he had not personally campaigned about it and it was not going to be a priority of his administration in view of other more significant and important
challenges.
However, all hell broke loose on social media
because the President’s body language
actually suggested that the pledge was dead in
the water and had not just been demoted
from the list of priorities. There were several
reasons why social and popular media became
instantly agog with activity on this issue.
Nigerian youths took great risk to get Major
General Buhari elected. They trusted him with
their lives and expected the change mantra to
become reality as soon as the People’s
General regained power after being sacked as
a military ruler in 1985. Truth is there are
already some loud whispers in many quarters
that lofty expectations are turning to a mirage
and that things are already falling apart. Every
explanation that it is too early to expect
miracles is hardly treated with belief.
Thus when the President delivered this
seemingly bad news to the expectant nation,
it did not go down well with many people.
First the location was wrong. I agree that such
monumental decisions should not have been
announced while sojourning abroad. To some
it would appear as if the President was taking
the easy pusillanimous way out. Perhaps, the
President should have addressed the nation
on home soil. Maybe the President could have
requested his ruling APC party to take the
bullet for him by getting the Party Chairman,
Chief John Oyegun, to talk to the nation about
the need to revise the manifesto that was sold
to the electorate with so much glee. There is
nothing wrong if fresh realities have
necessitated a change of plans. There is
usually a world of difference between the
idealism of opposition and the reality of being
on the hot seat. It is one of the reasons I
don’t envy the President on this present job.
Mr President and his Party would have to sit
down urgently to reappraise things and come
out with a tidier and clearer agenda
containing the realistic plan for Nigeria and
Nigerians in this dispensation. Sooner rather
than later, the first year of this administration
will come knocking. It would be disastrous if
by May 29, 2016, we still cannot have a
glimpse of where the government is headed or
heading. The staccato, stop-start fashion by
which things are being currently handled must
yield way to a smoother policy manifestation
and implementation. There are many things
that need to be worked on speedily.
The first and most pressing is the economy.
What is on ground now has been described by
a famous economist as “Robinson Crusoe
economics.” Like Robinson Crusoe, our
economy is being handled like one man living
alone on an uninhabited island but
surrounded by cannibals and vermin. The
economy is on a freefall, the sort we’ve not
encountered before. My humble suggestion is
that the President should assemble a crack
economic team immediately. Those who wish
to hold conferences can still do so especially
as we know where similar jamboree
conferences have gotten us in the past.
However, it is obvious that some people have
hijacked the misfortune of Nigeria and turned
it into a spectacular goldmine. “Voodoo
economics” is being practised by those milking
the country dry and their acolytes as well as
by others wishing to manipulate themselves
into the position of latter day economics
experts and get a slice of the national cake.
There are at this moment only a few sincere
economists about and we should tap into
these people but not make the mistake of
putting them on the same platform with the
evildoers lest we become unable to separate
the wheat from the chaff. A nation that fails
to consult and use its best brains is doomed
and may be permanently jinxed like we seem
to have been forever. In any event what is
necessary now is not to make the country a
debating society where esoteric and grand
economic principles are postulated and
propounded but a society where practical
visionary and meaningful economic policies
are garnered and implemented.
As young as I was in the days of Chief
Obafemi Awolowo, I was aware that his best
asset were the brightest brains he was able to
attract and assemble. He gathered their
brilliant ideas and merged them with his own.
Leadership is thus an art and science of
skillfully managing people and resources. It is
even easier these days. In the age of advanced
technology, where you can buy whatever you
lack, including brains. As advanced as Britain
is, the Governor of the Bank of England was
recruited from Canada. No one raised
eyebrows because the most important thing
was getting the job done. Our parochialism
will kill Nigeria ultimately if care is not taken.
Many of the voodooists controlling Nigeria
know nothing about modern governance or
managing an economy, not to mention an
ailing one. What is worse is that they know
that they know not but would not agree to
allow those who know something to do
anything.
The time has come to declare an emergency
on an evil economic apparatus foisted on us
by selfish people that may end up ruining our
otherwise great country. I believe we should
rise above partisan politics and bring our past
and present geniuses together including The
Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, The
Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, The
Governor of the Central Bank, Mr Godwin
Emefiele, The Emir of Kano, His Highness
Lamido Sanusi, Professor Charles Soludo, Mrs
Oby Ezekwesili, Professor Part Utomi, Mr
Bismark Rewane, and some of our brilliant
University dons to fashion out a way out of
this scandalous debacle.
The next thing is for this government to
reflect true frugality and shed the toga of
prodigality that is already rearing its ugly
head. The President should be alerted about
how those outside now believe he has already
joined the psychedelic class by wasting
resources on flights of fancy and excessively
flamboyant and ostentatious airport
ceremonies. The social media caught fire last
Monday as the pictures of our Brigade of
Guards in Scottish kilt fully piped up
welcomed the President on his arrival from
his Middle East tour went viral. Such frivolity
did not reflect the mood of the nation. The
President’s winning formula had always been
his simplicity, humility and childlike
innocence. He must resist the temptation of
being corrupted by the carpetbaggers who
litter our corridors of power. Running the
different tiers of government has been a
major drain on our economy. It is also the
reason the citizens would not change their
ways when government refuses to set good
examples.
Everything humanly possible should be done
to empower and encourage Mr Babatunde Raji
Fashola to give us power. There will never be
any meaningful development and progress
until we can generate enough electricity and
be able to transmit and distribute this
effectively. When people shout that we should
patronize made in Nigeria products they
conveniently forget that most of what we use
in making the made in Nigeria products were
fabricated and made abroad. At best we are
only an assembly line for these products. An average company loses its profit to what should have been provided ordinarily by government. I cannot begin to overemphasise the importance of electricity.
Nigerians will never forget whoever can put an end to their life in perpetual darkness. It is worth every effort and investment.
It is heartening to note that there are those ready and willing to partner with Government at little or no cost to make our dire power situation a thing of the past using both conventional and sustainable energy solutions.
All that seems to be required is for
government to discard any policy that would be a stumbling block to the utilisation of these opportunities. Nothing must be seen as set in stone. National development requires not only flexibility but a willingness to think outside the box. It is time to seize the moment!
In the name of God, we must revamp our
educational institutions. It is disgraceful that
we watched them collapse and we have
refused to do anything tangible to bring them
back to par with their counterparts elsewhere.
The APC should tell and demonstrate in
concrete terms what it intends to do to
restore the lost glory of our schools from
primary to tertiary institutions. Mercifully,
the Vice President comes from a scholarly
background and hopefully should be able to
activate and actualize what the former
President Goodluck Jonathan, himself an
academic, could not achieve in the five years
he spent as substantive number one citizen of
Nigeria.
Without quality education, most of our
graduates would never be employed or even
become employable. Our school curriculum
must now be redesigned in such a way that it can be relevant to the needs and requirements
of our tough situations. Entrepreneurship
should become a compulsory subject. This is why we must commend and recommend the great initiative by Tony Elumelu’s foundation that seeks to locate and situate hidden talents and future captains of industry. Innovation and inventiveness must be encouraged. There are Nigerians undertaking breathtaking research in many fields of human endeavour within the hallowed precincts of our university communities but they do not have the financial muscle or government encouragement and backing to be able to bring their dreams into reality. Great nations are made from developing such talents.
Research and development (R & D) is the way to go. Most of our manufacturing companies hardly have any such viable R & D departments. Incentives must be given to all concerned, including funding and tax initiatives, so that our nation may truly enter the industrialised comity of nations and not just pretend that we are better than mere panel beaters!
Yes, it is time for APC and the Government to set their priorities again but this must be done with a sense of purpose and a desire to take the people to a higher level. May God help them.

PPMC takes extra measures to quell current fuel scarcity

In response to the current fuel scarcity
situation, the management of PPMC in line with the honourable minister of state for petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu’s effort to
provide an effective intervention, has
flooded Abuja with 31 high capacity trucks; each with approximately 60,000 litres.
Another 25 is expected tomorrow.
The 31intervention trucks that have arrived the city of Abuja have been deployed to areas of need. This is made possible by reason of the partnership between NNPC Retail and
Capital Oil and Gas. In addition, 150 trucks have been provided by A. A. Rano, Azman, and Rahamaniyya.
According to the MD, PPMC Mrs. Esther
Nnamdi-Ogbue, these interventionist efforts will continue until the queues dissipate.
Furthermore, despite not being a regulator
PPMC has made an extra effort to curb the effect of the fuel crisis on the general
public by deploying staff to petrol stations
across Abuja for round-the-clock
monitoring.
It is believed that with these measures,
normalcy will return to Abuja and its
environs in no time. Motorists are
therefore advised for the umpteenth time
not to engage in panic buying as this will
encourage the activities of hoarders. They
are also advised to be vigilant and to report any observed sharp practices and other identified areas of need.

Chidinma, who ran away from home 4
months ago, was already 3 months
pregnant by the time detectives from
Festac Police Station, picked her at

where she went to cash some money. Her
lover is one 21-year-old Idris Umar, an
aspiring musician, but presently a
hairstylist. .
The police reveal that Umar may be
charged with abduction and rape.
Chidinma said she would have gone back
home, but she was waiting for her dad,
who offended her by beating her for no
just cause, to call her. The dad never did.
It was only her mom who bothered to call
and often sends her money. .
According to Chidinma, she said to Umar
that she was 21. She added: “He asked me
my age. I didn’t want to tell him my real
age. If I tell him my real age, he would
see me as a little girl. I told him I was 21.
I ran away from home out of frustration. I
ran away from home last year. I was 17. .
I was in Senior Secondary Class (SS2). I
don’t know why the police arrested Idris.
He hasn’t done anything wrong. He didn’t
rape me. I gave myself to him. I knew
what I was doing. He didn’t force or took
advantage of me. In fact, he assisted
me.” .
Chidinma had just been paid N50,000 for
a concert she did for a company, with the
money, she ran to Lagos and lodged at a
hotel for a week and two days, it was
within this period that she met Umar in
saloon where she used to go for nail
fixing. They fell in love and she moved in
with him.
An unperturbed Umar, said: “I love
Chidinma and I don’t want to look
elsewhere. She’s my first love and lover. I
love her. I’m ready for marriage. I’m soon
going into the music industry; I don’t want
women to start chasing and disturbing me after I have made it in music. .
That’s why I want to marry early. If I get
into music now, everyone will love me. I
wouldn’t know which one has genuine love for me. So, I need to marry now. And
Chidinma is my first love.”

An aggrieved housewife, Awele Nwani, 35, has allegedly bathed her husband, Frank Nwani, with hot water, claiming that her hubby denied her sex for three weeks.
According to Punch, the incident happened in Ibusa, Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State.The mother of six children, now on the run, also alleged that her husband had been having sexual affairs outside and threatened to make life unbearable for him.
But the victim (husband) dismissed her wife’s claim as untrue, saying his wife had been sleeping around.
He said, “My wife has been sleeping
around, hence I stopped sleeping with
her for three weeks. It is a taboo in
my tribe and she violates the laws.”
Frank stressed that his attempts to stop her illicit affairs outside proved abortive when he took the decision to starve her of sex.
Trouble started last Thursday when the victim returned from a visit to a friend’s house during nightfall and in his usual jokes, called his wife a lazy woman, leaving her in wide anger as she fired back to call the husband a wizard.
Sources said while their quarrel lasted, the woman disguised to have put the quarrel
behind her, dashed to the kitchen where she allegedly boiled water and unknown to the husband who was relaxing in the parlour, bathed him with the water and disappeared.
Police officers at the Ibusa Police Division, who did not want their names in the print, confirmed that the woman disappeared with the sum of N200,000 being daily contributions the husband received and kept in her custody.
The police said they were on the trail of the suspect while the victim is said to be
receiving treatment in a private hospital.

Timi Dakolo Becomes Ouch Brand Ambassador

OUCH unveiled its 2016 collection on the
25th of February, 2016 at the rooftop of
BLD By Play in Lekki. Style influencers,
fashionistas and other friends of the brand
were on hand at the intimate event. The
event which doubled as the finale for the
OUCHMan 2016 search was hosted by the
delectable Zina Anumudu and the dashing
OUCH and Martini ambassador Bryan
Okwara.
Speaking at the event the creative director
of OUCH Uche Nnaji said “the 2016
collection themed ‘’My Way” is for the man
who loves exclusivity in style, I am very
happy to be associated with Bryan Okwara
and Timi Dakolo this year and very proud of
our new Ouchman ‘’
Award winning musician and the Voice
Nigeria coach Timi Dakolo was also
announced as the new brand ambassador.
The night of exquisite glamour and style was
attended by a host of stars and media
personalities like Audu Maikori of Chocolate

10 Nigerian rappers that would defeat MI Abaga ‘bar for bar’

There’s so much ado about M.I Abaga being the greatest rapper in Nigeria.
Before M.I released his Illegal Music 3, the expectations of the true followers of Hip Hop
were as high as an eagle in full flight.
M.I, whose last body of work, The Chairman was thoroughly over-hyped, had boasted to
his fans and all who cared to listen that IM3:
The Finale would be the mother of all mix- tapes.
The masterstroke. His mixtape magnus opus.
IM3 was ‘supposed’ to be that unbeatable choke slam from the Undertaker before the
Chairman takes a bow and exits the ring, leaving his haters and critics sprawled lifeless and barely breathing.
But, it stopped at ‘supposed to be’ and never really made it into the ring.
To add salt to the injury of disappointment,
there have been series of arguments flying around about IM3 being a classic rap project.
Agreed, M.I is a successful rapper, his record
sales and countless endorsements over the
years speak for him but one thing is sure- his
bars don’t always do.
Perhaps, Talk About It did a little bit but after
that, our honorable chairman just continued
to slide down the castle.
As opposed to his brother, Emperor Jesse Jagz,
whose lyrics cannot be touched by anyone in
the Nigerian rap scene, M.I is undoubtedly just living off the pseudo-glory of his
commercialization (which he became so good at, that he forgot how to be dope).
Set aside the commercial success, set aside the record sales, set aside the endorsements, set aside the horde of senile fans who cannot distinguish between a good line and a wack,
out-of-the-loop, I’m-a-washed-up-rapper line just because its from their African Rapper
Number One.
Set aside all that and focus on the lyrics, focus on the essence of the message, just
zone out all the social media noise and FOCUS!
You would need more than your fingers to count how many Nigerian rappers would rip our dear Chairman apart, bar for bar.
Here are 10 of them:
10 & 9. Ghost and Tec of SDC.
Before you start wondering why the Show Dem Camp fellas are on this list, have you
really listened to these guys?
In fact, scratch that.
Listen to M.I’s Heart of The City on Illegal
Music 2 and you’ll see how SDC took M.I to
school. If you are a real fan of rap and depth,
you would agree that M.I’s verse was nowhere
near these guys.
8. AQ the Son of John
A very controversial rapper he is, yes but that’s partly because he’s refused to blend-in with the other rappers who forsake the art in their desperate search for ephemeral relevance and endorsements. Every time AQ
gets on a verse, you are guaranteed an inferno
and you can be sure this son of John will match Oga M.I any-day, anytime on wax.
7. Khali Abdul
Khali, though not half as widely accepted and
popular as M.I, is undoubtedly at the top of
his game when it comes to lyricism.
He murked M.I even when the Chairman was
in his ‘drop it like its hot’ phase.
Khali’s verse on Loopy Ballers, a joint
featuring M.I, Ice Prince and Jesse Jagz, puts
his inclusion on this list, into perspective.
6. Boogey
Run! Run! If the Boogey man is coming for
you! That includes you too- M.I.
Boogey, with just a few songs to his credit,
has already cemented his place as one of the
dopest rappers Nigeria has ever seen.
Once you listen to Ridiculous on M.I’s Illegal
Music 2, you’d agree there’s no way M.I is
matching that.
5. Olamide
Yes. Olamide made this list!
Now, bear in mind that we are focusing solely
on the quality of lyrics here and not who runs
the street, mainland or the island. Olamide’s
lyrics, when he actually decides to rap and
not invent slangs and catch-phrases for the
streets, are top notch to say the least.
If it comes down to a bar for bar contest,
Olamide would most definitely best M.I.
You can take that to the bank!
4. Vector
No need to elaborate.
Nobody in their right senses would argue that
Vector does not deserve to be in the top shelf
of this list.
Moving on.
3. Terry tha Rapman
Now that the ace rapper is desperately trying
to break into the commercial market, he has
toned down on his witty and hard hitting
lyrics but it still doesn’t change the fact that
when called upon to deliver, he shows up with
top notch and mindblowing flows- just the
way he went pound for pound with Mode 9
on their Otis remix.
MI Abaga, you think say na beans to burst 16?
2. Jesse Jagz
Even M.I said it- in the beginning- before we
all knew the lyrical rampage Jesse Jagz was
capable of.
The short black boy had said“even Jagz doesn’t
f**k with me, and Jagz is the greatest!” .
Well, we now know what MI what’s talking
about all along.
1. Mode 9
Say you didn’t expect Mode 9 to be number
one.
There is no Nigerian rap list (except it has to
do with record sales and endorsement) that
Modenine doesn’t sit at the top.
He has the innate ability to make your
favorite rapper’s best verse sound like an
unprepared freestyle.
He really is the original chairman and the king
of the streets.
